Summer School 2021
We’re delighted to be able to offer a two-week summer school this year.
The JMDS A-Team are hugely excited and await your presence! Here’s how it’ll work…
When & where is it?
2-13 August 2021 at Hobbs Hill Wood School, HP3 8ER. See below for timings.
What will we be doing?
In week 1: ISTD syllabi work alongside free dance work to improve technique and knowledge.
In week 2: learning dances for the end of week show plus fun activities & games.
There’ll also be time for private tuition (at extra cost).
Do I have to sign up for both weeks?
Nope: you can sign up for one week if you like. There is a discount for booking both weeks, though.
Who’s invited?
Everyone, including non-JMDS pupils. Dancers age 4-18 from everywhere are welcome.
Is there a dress code?
Students don’t have to wear JMDS uniform, but they must wear suitable dancewear. Hair styled as if for a normal dance class.
Can I have more details about week 1, please?
This will be a (much-needed after Covid) chance to improve technique in ballet and modern, with free work and some syllabus work.
And what about week 2?
This will be a great week with varied and fun classes for four age groups, including Body Conditioning, Drama, Singing, Street Jazz, Quiz, Modern & Ballet, Musical Theatre and our famous Friday Show. There will be a craft or art activity and games for younger children.
Is it all indoors?
If the weather is good we have use of the grass and play areas, where students can have their games/quizzes & tuck times.
And… is there a medal?
You know it! All students attending summer school will be presented with a special medal on the last day after our Summer School Show.
Tell me more about this Show?
A short presentation of work will be given on Friday 13 August at 3.30pm for parents and friends to watch, followed by medals and prize-giving. Everyone should attend for the whole day from 10am on this day. Lunch can be purchased or brought along. Simple, basic costumes may be needed for the end of week display - you won’t need to buy anything!
So there’ll be food available to buy on site?
Our tuck shop will be open, selling drinks, sweets, hot dogs, snacks, ice lollies and cake. Please ensure any tuck money is brought to summer school in a named purse.
